Today we highlight six new Afropop Top Videos for April. You'll find some new faces--WhyDee and ESINAM & Sibusile Xaba--alongside old friends Yemi Alade, DUB Inc., and Madalitso Band from Malawi. We kick off with a name to watch in Senegalese music, Cheikh Ibra Fam.

Cheikh Ibra Fam: "Xam Xam"
Senegalese singer/songwriter delivers a majestically soulful vocal on this zouk- and kizomba-tinged number. The song is from his upcoming album, Adouna (Life), ( October 2025, Cumbancha) and it tells the Dakar native's story, which includes global travel and a stint singing with Orchestra Baobab. Filmed on the streets of Saint Louis, Senegal, the video includes delightful footage of a red-braided girl dancing in the streets, and Fam teaching in a koranic school: With knowledge, Africa is the future! A kora solo from a construction crane is a plus.
Yemi Alade: "You Are"
The Queen of Afrobeats is looking fittingly regal in this anthemic, R&B song of empowerment. Her image with two dancers on a bare black and white checkerboard floor is intercut with anime action scenes of fantasy superhero Iyanu running from danger, conquering a wild beast and generally rising to great heights on a journey of self-discovery. It's all uplift for Yemi this time around.
DUB INC - Décibels
This powerful French-Algerian reggae combo is back with a punchy live-in-studio track featuring contrasting vocal styles from growling semi-rap to rai-adjacent lyrical melodiousness, all with a killer beat. This track sets an optimistic, positive tone for the band's ninth album, expected in the fall.
WhyDee: "Pronto"
Eighteen-year-old British-Nigerian rapper and producer WhyDee unleashes a Gen Z storm with pounding urgency on this track. He describes the theme of "Pronto" this way: "Pronto is about moving at the speed of life and what it takes to keep up with the grind. I wanted to highlight our generation's hunger for success and how we're always racing against time, but in a way, that's inspiring rather than negative." Mission accomplished!
ESINAM & Sibusile Xaba: "Flowing Keep Flowing (live at Botanique)"

One hears echoes of Phillip Tabane's Malombo in this track by an unusual duo consisting of Belgian-Ghanaian multi-instrumentalist (ESINAM) and South African guitarist and vocalist Sibusile Xaba (Kwazulu-Natal). Xaba's pure, high voice has a ritual feel and the groove is trancey. The track crescendos with their voices blending gloriously. This is the third single from the upcoming debut album Healing Voices by ESINAM & Sibusile Xaba (W.E.R.F. Records). This live version was recorded during a residency in Brussels venue Le Botanique.
Introducing Madalitso Band - From the streets of Malawi to the Global Stage
This unlikely folk duo from the streets of Lilongwe, Malawi, is making international waves with their infectious, joyful tunes and grooves. This video tells their story in brief. Much more on trhe band to come in a feature on Planet Afropop in June. Madilitso's third international album, Ma Gitala, drops on June 13.
